  • Been with Dr Thaen for about 3 months and it’s been a great blessing to have found her during this time in my life. Typically I hear a lot a stories about how therapists do not listen and don’t give you tools to work with during crisis. That wasn’t the case with Dr Thaen. I could talk for 30 mins and she heard every word I said. Gives me her input and tools to use to combat my crisis and it works. I’ve shared some of her tools with friends and it even worked for them. What ever you may be going through, I’m sure Dr Thaen can help. If not, I’m sure she can lead you in the right direction. Don’t miss this opportunity for guidance and effective tools to better your circumstance.

    Ive tried multiple therapists, out of all of them Jason was the first one to really not only help me identify issues I experince, but give me the tools to help me deal with problems that I struggle with both inside and outside of therapy. When I first showed up, I had an image of who I wanted to be in life. And Jason was there, every step of the way to help me achieve those goals. If your on the fence about seeing anyone at Avid, I would do it. They will find something that works for you.

    Jason saved my marriage! We had been seeing another therapist elsewhere, it was going nowhere. Wasting all of our time. So off I went in search of someone else to help. I reached out to dozens of therapists, Jason was the only one who responded. Lucky us! He is professional and so smart! Helped us see/ think differently. Every time we saw him, I learned something new about myself and gained a different understanding about how other people behave based on what they have endured. He also has a great sense of humor and therapy is definitely his passion! You can’t go wrong with him!

  • I can't overstate how much growth and healing I experienced over 9 months of sessions with Dr. Thaen. This week marks a year since I moved states and had to leave her practice, but I still use the resources and tools she gave me daily. Her approach mixing EMDR, somatic practices, CBT, and nervous system regulation felt like a breakthrough for me after years of seeing primarily CBT/DBT-only therapists. Dr. Thaen welcomed feedback and provided space to reflect at the end of each session. She didn't hesitate to interrupt lines of thought or point out something she was noticing mid-session. It was often these gentle, but firm redirections that helped me build trust and be more vulnerable. Dr. Thaen is kind, straightforward, gentle, and clear. I would recommend her wholeheartedly.

    Truely enjoyed my time with my therapist from Avid counseling. I have a much more dynamic relationship with my young son using the skills I learned here.     I worked with both Thaen and Jason at Avid Counseling. With Thaen, I was pursuing EMDR which was surprisingly easy through virtual counseling. She is incredibly thoughtful, clearly pays close attention her clients, and very easy to work with. I really appreciated Jason's motivational parenting approach and saw very fast results in how I engage with and ensure they have a supported and bonded relationship as they grow. Highly recommend working with either of these therapists.
